Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This French Napoleon III decorative box dates from 1880 and takes the form of a rectangular glove box fashioned from warm brown walnut and kingwood. The lid displays intricate floral marquetry, mother-of-pearl accents, brass inlay, and parquetry veneer, all bordered by brass moulding with a matching brass edge to the perimeter. A working key remains in the lock, adorned with a bright blue tassel hanging from the keyhole, and the interior holds a deep buttoned blue satin lining. The box measures 9 cm in height, 34 cm in length, and 13 cm in depth. In a modern interior, this lidded box provides functional storage on a living room sideboard top for small accessories, jewellery, or keepsakes. It brings period character to a hallway console table or a bedroom dresser surface while protecting its contents inside the satin lining. The traditional styling integrates easily into both classical and eclectic domestic settings as a decorative accent piece.

In the nineteenth century, gloves were an essential attire accessory, requiring specialized long, shallow caskets to store them flat and protect the leather from creasing.

Craftsmen constructed these caskets using exotic wood veneers such as walnut, kingwood, or rosewood, adorned with cut brass inlay, mother-of-pearl accents, and protective metal borders.

Authentic period caskets exhibit hand-cut wood veneers, original working locks, age-appropriate surface patination on metal elements, and slight irregularities in the hand-set marquetry.

An antique glove box functions well on a sideboard, dressing table, or desk, serving as an accent piece while offering storage for writing instruments, jewellery, or keys.

Dust the item using a clean, soft microfibre cloth, keep it away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer movement, and avoid liquid cleaners on brass or wood finishes.
