Gatcombe Antiques has dated this Antique Rosewood Writing Slope to the 19th Century.
The central part of the top has an ornate MOP cartouche with the letters "SAS", which is quite novel! (Maybe Tom Forrester from Bargain Hunt would be interested) The inlaid MOP continues around the outer edges of the top and also around the outer edges of the front. It has a small circular MOP escutcheon.
At the top end of the slope, is a central pen tray with a removable pen tilt, and to its left, a nib tray. The inkwells are in each corner. Both flaps lift to gain access to storage areas beneath. On the underside of both flaps is a crisscross arrangement of green string, to hold business cards, notes etc. This has been reinstated, following the same pattern. The base has been re-lined with green baize.

Cleaned, re-waxed and polished. The rosewood veneer is completely intact, and hasn't needed any restoration. Has good colour. The writing slopes that were made during this period of time, often had MOP decoration, which was something of a pleasant change from the brass-clad ones!

Aftercare:
Cleaned and restored (where necessary) to a high presentable standard. Periodically wipe over
with a soft cloth. Occasionally, use a spray furniture polish containing beeswax to maintain
its satin sheen. Please don't use a silicone spray as this could have a detrimental effect on the
waxed surface.
