This Edwardian display cabinet is made from dark mahogany brown timber with a glass front and fabric lining. The piece stands on four cabriole legs terminating in carved claw and ball feet, supporting a body enclosed by twin astragal glazed doors with small vertical handles. The upper section is finished with a shaped pediment top rail and a textured gadrooned edge. Inside, two spacious shelves provide storage across the fabric-lined interior. Measuring 154 cm high, 122 cm wide, and 40 cm deep, the cabinet operates as a tall and imposing storage unit. Positioned in a living room, dining room, or hallway, the cabinet functions as a focal point for displaying glassware, ceramics, books, or treasured collections behind glass doors. The rich colour and visible natural grain of the mahogany complement the traditional Edwardian design, while the structured form suits English Country House interiors.

Produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, Edwardian display cabinets feature lighter proportions than earlier Victorian examples, often incorporating Neoclassical revival elements, astragal glazed doors, and shaped pediments.

Edwardian cabinets were predominantly constructed from dense timbers such as mahogany, satinwood, or walnut, fitted with glass panes, brass key escutcheons, and fabric-lined interior shelving for housing ceramics or glassware.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery, natural surface patination from age, period-appropriate brass hardware, and structural elements such as cabriole legs terminating in hand-carved claw and ball feet.

A mahogany vitrine functions as a focal point in a contemporary dining room, living area, or hallway when used to display organized collections of ceramics, glassware, or hardback books.

Timber surfaces should be dusted with a dry cloth and maintained with beeswax polish applied sparingly along the grain, while glass panels should be cleaned with a damp lint-free cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals on the wood framework.
