Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian wingback armchair is an upholstered armchair in the gentleman's library style. It has a tall, shaped backrest with prominent side wings, low scrolled armrests with piping trim, and a loose seat cushion covered in off-white faux mottled grey tan leather upholstery. The frame stands on dark mahogany straight square legs joined by an H-stretcher near the floor. The chair measures 81 cm wide by 84 cm deep by 119 cm high, with a seat height of 53 cm. Traditional proportions and sturdy construction make this piece suitable for daily seating in a study, library, reading corner, or living room. The neutral leather finish coordinates easily with existing seating arrangements while offering a comfortable, supportive seat for reading or relaxing. The timber stretchers provide extra stability to the legs during frequent use.

A Victorian wingback armchair features high side wings designed to shield the occupant from cold room draughts and retain heat from an open hearth, combined with a padded backrest and scrolled armrests.

Traditional Victorian wing chairs were constructed with solid timber frames, such as mahogany or oak, fitted with hand-tied iron coil springs, webbing, horsehair padding, and upholstered in leather, velvet, or heavy woven fabric.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved hardwood frames, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, webbed seat bases, and natural wear patterns along the stretchers and armrests.

A wingback chair functions as a focal accent piece in a study, library, or living room, positioned alongside a side table or hearth to introduce structural height and classic proportions.

Dust upholstery regularly using a soft brush attachment, keep the timber and fabric away from direct sunlight to prevent drying or discolouration, and condition wood components using natural beeswax.
