This pair of early 20th century Moorish revival corner chairs is fashioned from dark brown hardwood enriched with bone inlay and mother-of-pearl accents. Each piece displays intricate geometric star patterns on the seat, intricate carving across the aprons, and raised back galleries pierced with Mashrabiya arches. One seat exhibits a visible structural crack while remaining fully sound for seating. The timber carries a polished finish, complemented by contrasting light-toned bone inlay details and complex carved panel fronts. Dimensions are 75 cm high, 41.5 cm wide and 41.5 cm deep, with a seat height of 41 cm. These decorative items suit placement within an empty corner of a gentleman's library or hallway as functional seating or accent furniture.

Moorish Revival furniture features complex geometric patterns, architectural mashrabiya lattice carving, and horseshoe arches inspired by traditional Islamic architecture. Popularised during the late 19th and early 20th centuries across Europe and the Middle East, these pieces often incorporate bone, ivory, or mother-of-pearl inlay embedded into dark hardwoods.

Construction primarily utilised dense dark hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or teak. Decorative surfaces featured contrasting inlays of bone, mother-of-pearl, pewter wire, or lighter fruitwoods inserted into hand-carved recessed channels.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut joint construction, slight irregularities in the geometric inlay placement, and natural oxidation on unvarnished surfaces. The underside and inner framing often display hand-saw marks and original wood shrinkage appropriate to age.

These structured accent pieces fit neatly into compact corners, hallway landings, or alongside low-profile leather seating. The dark timber and metallic or bone detail provide visual contrast against plain plaster walls or minimalist decor schemes.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Maintain a stable indoor humidity level to prevent the hardwood from expanding or contracting, which can loosen delicate bone or mother-of-pearl inlay pieces.
