A Fine Set of Six Restored Victorian Balloon Back Mahogany Dining Chairs.
Each chair is formed from solid, heavyweight Mahogany, exhibiting a rich, dark tone that highlights the natural beauty and depth of the timber. The frames retain their original deep French polished finish, which has been sympathetically revived, cleaned, and waxed to a splendid lustre while preserving their historic character. The classic balloon backs feature gracefully curved frames enclosing a beautifully scrolled central splat, showcasing the exceptional woodworking skills of the period.
Below, the 'stuffed over' seats have been fully re-upholstered from a bare frame using traditional webbing and padding methods, ensuring both comfort and historical authenticity. The upholstery consists of a sophisticated light beige herringbone wool-type chenille, neatly finished with a matching decorative braid that complements the deep colour of the Mahogany frames remarkably well. Supported by robust, deep fluted turned legs at the front, every chair has had its joints thoroughly checked over, re-glued, and tightened wherever necessary to guarantee complete stability. Presented in wonderful, home-ready condition, this fine set provides a durable and distinguished seating solution for any traditional or contemporary interior.
