A superb 18th‑century carved oak longcase clock with deep, mellow colouring and a beautifully carved trunk. The hood has bold mouldings framing a gilt brass dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, pierced filigree hands and the signature Jn° Smith, Macclesfd. Richly decorated spandrels complete the dial.

The clock retains its original two‑train weight‑driven movement with brass wheelwork and hour‑strike bell, typical of late 18th‑century construction.

A strong, characterful longcase clock with excellent proportions and genuine 18th‑century appeal — a fine example for collectors or anyone seeking a piece with real presence.
