A Masterpiece of North-West Cabinetry: Rare 11" Brass Dial Longcase Clock by Richard Corless of Stockport, Cheshire (Active c. 1760–1780)Period: George III (Circa 1770)

Movement: 8-Day striking movement (Hours on a crisp, resonant bell).An investment-grade English longcase clock of exceptional rarity, featuring the highly coveted combination of an 11-inch dial, a slender 35cm msin trunk width, and premier exhibition-quality cabinetry. Signed by the respected Cheshire maker Richard Corless of Stockport, this clock boasts an original, "unmarried" dial-to-case configuration. Having recently undergone a comprehensive mechanical overhaul at a cost of £700, it is offered in immaculate, showroom-ready condition for the discerning collector or luxury interior.

While standard provincial examples feature plain plinths and flat caddy tops, this case represents the pinnacle of the North-West school of clockmaking:Highly prized, elegant proportions featuring an incredibly narrow trunk measuring just 35cm wide. The Pagoda Hood & Blind Fretwork: A magnificent, complex pagoda-top hood adorned with intricate, vibrant red-backed blind fretwork directly above the dial door. Architectural Columns: The hood features fine mahogany turned pillars, beautifully mirrored by matching, conforming quarter-turned fluted columns built into the trunk waist. Constructed from rich, premium quarter-sawn oak displaying a beautiful radial grain structure, masterfully crossbanded in figured walnut. The Base: A beautifully balanced canted base panel terminating in original, pristine ogee bracket feet. The Dial & Movement The Dial: A rare and compact 11-inch square brass dial with a finely matted center, a working date aperture ("14"), a subsidiary seconds dial, a silvered chapter ring with bold Roman numerals, and ornate cast-brass corner spandrels. Crisply signed "Rich'd Corless, STOCKPORT" across the center plate
