Marlborough Antiques & Interiors has dated this Satinwood Tabletop Bureau Mirror to the Victorian era.

The upper section features an adjustable rectangular mirror held between upright supports and surmounted by turned finials. Below, the beautifully figured satinwood fall front opens to form a writing surface and reveals a fitted interior comprising two pigeonholes and three small drawers. A pair of pull-out supports provides additional support for the writing flap when open.

Beneath the bureau are two further full-width drawers, fitted with small brass knobs, providing useful additional storage. The warm honey-coloured satinwood displays particularly attractive figuring throughout, complemented by restrained brass fittings and an attractive period patina.

An unusual and wonderfully versatile piece of late Victorian/Edwardian transitional furniture, equally suited for use as a dressing table, correspondence bureau or decorative table-top cabinet. Its unusually compact proportions make it particularly appealing for a bedroom, dressing room or study.
