Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Edwardian side chairs exhibits warm brown mahogany construction complemented by delicate satinwood stringing and contrasting marquetry inlay. Each piece stands on cabriole front legs with curved crest rails and vasiform splats, upholstered in patterned fabric bearing soft tones of beige, pink, and pale blue. The visible details comprise polished timber surfaces, intricate scrolling decorations across the back panels, and shaped aprons above the slender legs. These bedroom chairs suit placement in a traditional hallway, guest room, or as occasional seating in a living area alongside antique furnishings. Standing at a standard dining or dressing height, they offer practical everyday utility while adding period character to domestic interiors. The traditional English country house design integrates seamlessly into both formal and relaxed room schemes, providing durable seating solutions derived from classic craftsmanship.

FAQs

Edwardian furniture from the early 20th century often featured lighter proportions than Victorian designs, incorporating delicate satinwood stringing, classical urn motifs, and marquetry inspired by Sheraton and Hepplewhite styles.

Craftsmen typically utilised solid mahogany frames complemented by delicate marquetry inlays made from lighter timbers such as satinwood, boxwood, or sycamore, paired with woven tapestry fabric upholstery.

Authentic pieces display fine hand-cut inlay or satinwood stringing, cabriole or tapered legs, precise mortise and tenon joinery, and uniform natural patination across the timber surfaces.

These lightweight side chairs serve as accent seating placed individually in bedrooms, beside hallway console tables, or arranged around a dining table to provide historical contrast.

Keep timber clear of direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply natural beeswax polish periodically while avoiding water or harsh chemicals.
