Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Kashmiri papier-mache is a traditional craft brought to the Kashmir region in the 14th century by Sufi saint Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani and Persian artisans. It combines Persian decorative motifs with local Indian craftsmanship, evolving into a recognized technique for producing lightweight, decorated household objects.

Pieces are made by soaking recycled paper pulp in water, mixing it with binding adhesives, and pressing it onto wooden or plaster moulds. Once dried, the surface is smoothed with stone, coated with plaster paste, hand-painted with fine natural pigments using animal hair brushes, and finished with clear protective lacquer.

Authentic items display dense, hand-drawn floral or foliage brushwork, known as Naqashi, often incorporating gold accents and chinar leaf patterns. They feel lightweight yet solid, with slight organic irregularities beneath the lacquer coat indicating manual shaping and painting rather than machine printing.

Place a curated set of varying sizes together on a console table, bookshelf, or sideboard to serve as textural accents. Their detailed painted patterns create visual contrast when set against neutral minimalist backdrops or paired with modern wood and stone surfaces.

Clean papier-mache objects using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. Keep the items away from damp environments, high humidity, and direct sunlight to prevent cracking of the paint layer or distortion of the pulp body.
