A “Mackenzie & Mackenzie''s High Class Biscuits” Victorian Period Mahogany Trade Display Biscuit Cabinet, circa 1880This is a rare and highly decorative late 19th-century country store biscuit display cabinet, advertising “Mackenzie & Mackenzie''s High Class Biscuits” in its original reverse gilt lettering across the top. Beautifully made in mahogany, the cabinet has a rectangular mahogany top and three slanted display compartments, each with its original glass lift-up door, brass “compass” hinges designed to hold the doors open and pair of brass handles. Originally used near a shop counter to present tins and packets of biscuits, the angled interior was specifically designed to make the contents both visually appealing and easy to reach.
