Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Treen literally translates to of a tree and refers to small, functional domestic items made entirely from wood. Prior to the widespread availability of metals and plastics, treen encompasses everyday objects such as bowls, spoons, and snuff boxes.

Engine-turned treen boxes were crafted using specialised Rose Engine lathes that allowed craftsmen to etch precise, geometric pattern cuts into hard timbers. Dense, fine-grained native hardwoods like laburnum, boxwood, and fruitwoods were favoured for their stability and ability to hold fine detail.

Authentic 19th-century treen typically displays deep surface patination from handling, lathe turning marks on unpolished surfaces, and smooth interior wear. Precision geometric patterns etched via mechanical engine lathes were particularly prominent during the Regency and early Victorian eras.

Small treen boxes function well as decorative desktop objects, paperweights, or accent pieces on a styled bookshelf. Their compact scale and rich wooden patina add warmth and historical texture to modern desk arrangements or coffee table trays.

Keep wooden treen away from direct sunlight, radiator heat sources, and moisture to prevent cracking or warping. Regular dust removal with a soft microfiber cloth and an occasional light application of clear microcrystalline wax will protect the original finish.
