Regency Mahogany Serpentine Dressing Table Mirror, Three Drawers, Boxwood Stringing, C.1805–1825

19th century
Description

Regency Mahogany Serpentine Dressing Table Mirror, Three Drawers, Boxwood Stringing, c.1805–1825

A refined Regency period mahogany dressing table mirror, dating to the early 19th century, circa 1805–1825. The piece is of elegant serpentine form, the well-figured mahogany base fitted with three drawers and supporting an oval mirror plate within a shaped frame.

The base is decorated with fine boxwood and ebony stringing, set within a crossbanded border, the top displaying a pleasing colour and natural variation to the grain. The drawers retain their original turned bone handles, with matching roundel terminals to the uprights, providing a subtle and attractive contrast. The central drawer is fitted with its original working lock and key.

The mirror plate appears to be original and retains a good, usable surface, showing some light marks and very small spots of foxing consistent with age. The drawers are oak lined and run well. The piece stands on well-shaped ogee bracket feet, completing a balanced and practical design.

A particularly attractive and honest example, offering both decorative appeal and useful storage, well suited to a range of interiors.

Dimensions:

Height: 57.5 cm (22 1/2")

Width: 40.25 cm (15 3/4")

Depth: 20.5 cm (8")

Condition:

Very good condition overall. Structurally sound with no damage or repairs. The mirror plate is original and shows light age-related marks and very small spots of foxing. The drawers run well and retain their original lock and key. A well-preserved and ready-to-use example with a pleasing colour and surface.
