This is a Georgian, English, facet cut stem ale glass dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1780.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.3 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain save for petal flute cutting to the base and sits on an extruded diamond facet cut stem with a swollen medial knop. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter. The glass is 19 cm (7.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
English lead glass weighing in at 190 g. (~ 7 oz.).
