Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Edwardian side chairs dates from 1910 and follows an elegant shield-back form crafted from warm brown mahogany. The timber displays rich dark brown figuring decorated with satinwood and boxwood inlaid detailing, including scrolling foliate ornament, urns and stylised birds within marquetry panels on the shaped backs. The serpentine front seat rails incorporate restrained line inlays, and the cabriole front supports feature additional tapering marquetry embellishment terminating in pad feet. Each chair has an overstuffed seat upholstered in a textured neutral woven fabric in shades of gold and beige, finished with a decorative braid trim. The dimensions are 85 cm high, 46 cm wide, and 51 cm deep, with a seat height of 46 cm. These chairs suit placement around a dining table in a traditional dining room or as decorative accent seating in a formal living room or hallway. The neutral upholstery tone harmonises with diverse interior colour schemes while providing comfortable seating for daily use or entertaining. The slim profile and refined silhouette allow them to sit flush against walls or fit neatly beneath tables when not in use, adding period character to domestic spaces.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage and bleaching, clean dust with a soft microfibre cloth, and apply beeswax polish annually to maintain the surface finish.

A pair of inlaid side chairs can be positioned flanking a hall table, arranged in a bedroom corner, or integrated alongside minimalist furniture to add texture and historical contrast.

Authentic pieces feature precise hand-fitted marquetry, traditional mortise and tenon jointing, age-appropriate patination on the mahogany, and original seat webbing or hand-stitched padding structures.

These chairs are typically constructed from solid mahogany with decorative marquetry inlays made of contrasting timbers such as satinwood or boxwood, set above padded upholstered seats.

Edwardian side chairs are armless seating pieces crafted in the early twentieth century, characterised by lightweight mahogany frames, delicate marquetry, and classical revival forms.
