Windsor Large Farmhouse Armchair In Frutwood & Elm, C1890

An exceptionally large and impressive Windsor Farmhouse Armchair in fruitwood with lyre shaped fretted splat and elm seat, featuring fretted back splat and shaped scroll over arms. Stamped by the maker on the rear edge of the seat ‘JL’ - possibly a member of the ‘Larner’ family, recorded as chair makers in Stokenchuch (near High Wycombe) in the latter part of the 19th century.
