Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco design emerged in France during the 1910s and flourished internationally throughout the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, stylised motifs, and innovative use of industrial materials such as tinted and peach-coloured plate glass.

These mirrors typically feature silvered plate glass with bevelled edges, often accompanied by peach, pink, or amber tinted glass sections secured to a wooden backing board with brass or metal screws and clips.

Authentic period pieces often show age-related foxing or oxidisation within the silver backing, hand-bevelled glass edges, original wooden backboards, and period-appropriate hanging chains or brass fixings rather than modern fixings.

A vintage tinted mirror works effectively as a focal point above a mantelpiece or console table, contrasting against neutral plaster walls or complementing metallic accents to add warmth and reflected light to a space.

Clean antique mirrors gently using a microfibre cloth and a mild, ammonia-free glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth rather than directly onto the glass to prevent moisture seeping behind the silvered backing or edges.
