A fine antique French Kingwood vitrine by G. Durand (c.1900), featuring original Breccia marble top, gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts, glazed door and sides, and three adjustable glass shelves.
A quality Parisian piece with beautifully figured veneers and crisp casting-perfect for showcasing porcelain, glass or curios.
About the Maker:
Gervais-Maximilien-Eugčne Durand established the Maison Durand firm in 1870, specialising in 18th century style furniture of the highest quality. The workshop gained great acclaim at the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle, where Durand was awarded a silver medal and praised as “un ébéniste aussi habile que modeste…”. In 1890, Durand’s son Frédéric-Louis joined the business, renamed Durand & Fils.
This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a cabinet by one of France’s most celebrated ébénistes of the 19th century.
