19th Century Country House Carpet Open Armchair By Cvs

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Desired Effect Antiques Ltd

A well drawn 19th century open armchair by Cornelius V Smith in tatty country house condition. Raised on ebonized front legs and arm supports, with splayed rear legs and the left rear leg bearing the CVS makers mark. The chair stands firm and the frame is tight with n o loose joints. The original velvet and carpet both showing signs of wear particularly around the front of the seat and arms. c1885

The sprung seat which still has the original lining to the base does dip in the middle due to use. Its is usable as is however we would probably recommend salvaging the carpet and changing the velvet unless you like the distressed worn look it currently has.

As with all our upholstered seating we do offer upholstery should you wish.
