Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Windsor chairs originated in England during the early 18th century, developing from traditional stick-furniture techniques where individual spindles and legs were inserted into a solid wooden seat.

Authentic Windsor chairs typically feature a combination of timbers, commonly utilising elm for the carved solid seat due to its split resistance, alongside ash or beech for the bentwood bows, legs, and spindles.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the hand-turned components, wedge-tenon joinery piercing through the seat, tool marks from adzes on the saddle seat, and natural oxidisation and wear consistent with age.

Windsor chairs provide warmth and textural contrast when paired with contemporary minimalist dining tables or used as eclectic seating in a modern kitchen scheme.

Preserve wooden chairs by maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct heat sources, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the timber and protect the patina.
