We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency style metalware, prominent during the early 19th century in Britain, is characterised by classical influences, rich hand-painted pastoral or chinoiserie motifs, and a dark japanned or varnished finish applied to sheet metal.

These pieces were typically crafted from hammered or rolled sheet iron or steel, which was then coated with layers of lacquer or paint, often featuring hand-applied polychrome artwork and gold leaf accents.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate wear, craquelure in the varnish, hand-forged or early brass interior components, and brushwork consistent with 19th-century folk or academic art rather than modern printing techniques.

Placed on a bookshelf, desk, or mantelpiece, an antique tole caddy introduces historic texture, colour contrast, and a focal point of artisanal craftsmanship to both traditional and modern minimalist schemes.

Preservation requires dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding all water, alcohol, or chemical solvents that could damage the fragile historic varnish and hand-painted layers.
