Murano glassmaking has centered on the Venetian island of Murano since the 13th century, renowned for exceptional clarity, intricate mirror plate etching, and applied glass ornamentation.

These mirrors are constructed using silvered glass plates, wooden backing structures, and hand-formed glass elements such as rosettes, twisted cane tubing, and engraved borders.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-beveled glass, minor imperfections and foxing in the mercury or silver backing, hand-wired structural components, and distinct individual variations in the applied glass elements.

Such a mirror functions effectively as a focal point above a fireplace mantel or console table, reflecting natural light and contrasting against minimalist or modern architectural surfaces.

Clean the glass gently using a soft microfibre cloth and a neutral cleaner, avoiding harsh chemicals that could damage the delicate silvering or vintage glass surfaces.
