A Georgian tea caddy is a specialised container manufactured during the Georgian era to store expensive loose-leaf tea safely under lock and key.

Traditional construction involved dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or satinwood, frequently embellished with decorative veneers, boxwood stringing, and marquetry.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate construction methods such as hand-cut dovetailing, aged patina on the timber, original brass hardware, and interior foil or wooden compartments.

Position the caddy as a focal point on a console table, bookshelf, or mantelpiece to introduce historical warmth and textural contrast to contemporary schemes.

Maintain the wood by dusting with a dry, soft cloth and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to protect the finish, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture.
