Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Clean glass panels using a mild ammonia-free cleaner applied directly to a microfibre cloth rather than spraying near the timber. Dust mahogany surfaces regularly and apply a natural beeswax polish periodically, taking care to vacuum fabric linings gently with a soft brush attachment.

A large glazed counter functions exceptionally well as a central island in a spacious dressing room, hallway, or open-plan living area. Incorporate curated books, sculptural items, or personal collections inside the case to create an intriguing focal point without visual clutter.

Authentic period showcases display hand-carved decorative motifs, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and period-correct glass with slight thickness variations or air bubbles. Inspecting the underside reveals hand-planed timber, original brass hinges, and age-consistent wear along contact points.

High-end display showcases were crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, paired with heavy plate glass panels. Interior surfaces were commonly lined with plush fabrics like velvet or silk to cushion and highlight valuable objects, while brass hardware secured doors and lids.

An antique glazed display counter is a specialized item of commercial or domestic furniture constructed with clear glass panels mounted on a timber framework. Originally popularized in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these counters allowed merchandise or personal collections to be viewed clearly while maintaining security.
