A snuff shoe is a small, functional container carved in the shape of a shoe or boot, historically used during the 18th and 19th centuries to hold and dispense powdered tobacco.

These items were predominantly carved from dense hardwoods such as fruitwood, walnut, or mahogany, often embellished with brass pique work, inlay, or sliding lids.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit genuine patina, hand-carved tool marks, period-appropriate fastening mechanisms like sliding panels, and historical wear consistent with age.

As a small decorative object, it can be displayed on a bookshelf, desk, or cabinet top to add a touch of historical curiosity and texture to a room.

Preservation involves keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, cleaning only with a dry or slightly damp cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax.
