Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A duobaoge, translating to treasure cabinet, is a traditional Chinese display shelf that emerged during the Qing dynasty. It features an asymmetrical layout of open compartments engineered to showcase distinct art pieces, ceramics, and curiosities from multiple viewing angles.

These cabinets are typically constructed from dense Asian hardwoods such as elm, hongmu, or rosewood using complex mortise and tenon joinery. Traditional designs avoid metal nails in the main frame and feature hand-hammered brass backplates, pull handles, and hinges on the lower compartments.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-fitted joinery without modern screws, natural unevenness from hand-planing, and honest wear on high-touch surfaces. Hardware usually shows signs of oxidation, and the underside or interior timber displays age-appropriate timber shrinkage and patina.

The open, architectural silhouette functions well against a neutral wall or as an room divider. Interior designers balance the asymmetrical compartments by styling them with minimalist ceramics, framed monochrome art, or greenery alongside traditional antiques.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth following the direction of the grain. To prevent cracking or joint loosening, keep the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp environments, applying a high-quality beeswax polish annually to nourish the timber.
