In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A Victorian inlaid rosewood side cabinet is a multi-tiered display piece prominent in late 19th-century drawing rooms, characterised by dark rosewood construction, intricate boxwood marquetry, and bevelled mirror inserts.

Craftsmen utilised rich dark rosewood, frequently incorporating delicate marquetry and stringing using lighter woods like satinwood or boxwood, combined with hand-cut bevelled glass mirror plates.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, original mirror plates with subtle foxing, fine hand-carved details, and genuine wood veneer with natural age-related patina.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall to let the intricate marquetry stand out, pairing it with contemporary artwork or minimalist brass lamps to balance the elaborate wood details.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply high-grade beeswax twice yearly, avoiding direct sunlight, radiators, and harsh chemical solvents that damage the delicate finish and inlay.
