Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 18th-century Italian provincial Baroque cabinet stands 201 cm high, 174 cm wide, and 62 cm deep. Constructed from painted wood and iron, the piece wears a distressed black finish over timber with visible signs of age and wear along the edges and hardware. The upper section comprises a moulded cornice above panelled double doors fitted with original metal tear-drop handles and raised geometric panels. Below the main compartment sits a lower base fitted with drawers matching the door panels, supported by bracket feet. The rustic farmhouse aesthetic suits practical storage applications in traditional or contemporary living spaces, dining rooms, or hallways.

FAQs

Eighteenth-century Tuscan cabinets feature architectural moulding, symmetrical geometric door panels, and robust proportions rooted in Italian provincial woodworking traditions.

These cabinets were typically constructed from regional hardwoods like walnut or chestnut, alongside local softwoods, featuring hand-forged iron hardware and painted or ebonised surface treatments.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-planed backboards, wooden peg joinery, hand-hammered iron fittings, and natural wear patterns in the finish along contact edges and handles.

A large painted armoire serves as a focal piece in a dining area, hallway, or bedroom, offering high storage capacity while providing visual contrast against lighter neutral walls.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoid applying harsh chemical polishes, and maintain consistent ambient humidity to protect the aged timber and painted finish.
