We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Regency window seats emerged in Britain during the early 19th century, heavily influenced by classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian designs characterised by clean lines, symmetrical proportions, and scroll-end arms.

Cabinet makers typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, and rosewood, employing traditional joinery techniques including mortise and tenon frames, hand-turned legs, and steam-bent scroll arms.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-correct timber patination, hand-cut joinery without modern fasteners, traditional hand-turned leg profiles, and structural wear consistent with early 19th-century usage.

Position the seat beneath a large architectural window to highlight its historical profile, or use it as a functional accent piece at the foot of a bed or along a hallway wall to ground modern minimalist spaces with organic warmth.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the antique finish.
