Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Bible box is a small, portable wooden desk or storage chest constructed during the 16th and 17th centuries, originally designed to protect large family Bibles and precious manuscripts from dampness and damage in domestic settings.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid English oak using traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, held together with wooden pegs, and featured hand-carved decorative motifs on the front panels.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct tool marks, hand-cut dovetails or peg construction, shrinkage cracks in the timber consistent with age, authentic ironmongery including hand-hammered hinges and locks, and deep oxidation or patination of the wood.

This piece can be placed atop a sideboard, console table, or desk to function as a distinctive storage container for letters or modern accessories, adding historical texture and warmth to contemporary living spaces.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, dusting with a dry microfiber cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the historical finish without sealing the pores.
