Antique French Ormolu and Sèvres Porcelain Clock~ French - Circa 1850 ~~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~A fine and early ormolu clock of Louis XV design, beautifully made in superb mercury fire gilded Bronze Doré. The large porcelain enamel dial is mounted in a fluted drum, with scroll supports upon a serpentine shaped white Carrera marble base with ormolu feet. To the front is an exquisite Sèvres style porcelain panel depicting cupid with an arrow with a Bleu Celeste ground. The dial is signed for the prestigious retailer Martin Baskett & Martin of Cheltenham. It is complete with its original finely fretted gilt hands and convex glass. The rear bezel is also glazed with convex glass to allow the movement to be seen.The French movement is of high quality and is signed to the back plate for Martin Baskett & Martin.
