Fine quality early 19th century French Empire gilt bronze ormolu ''borne'' shaped mantel clock with a beautiful central cartouche relief depicting Cronos the god of time striding forward with his scythe and hour glass. Superbly cast and chased classical designed edges. White porcelain face signed ''Déniere Fab(bricant) de bronzes à Paris'' with Breguet hands. 8 day silk suspension movement. Déniere is recorded working on the Rue Turenne in 1812 and the Rue d''Orléans in 1820 in Tardys ''Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français''. French, circa 1815.
