Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian mahogany wall clock is a 19th-century mechanical timepiece enclosed in a carved mahogany case designed for wall mounting. These clocks typically display Roman numerals on a light-coloured dial and feature mechanical movements manufactured during the British Victorian era.

These clocks were primarily crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, with brass for the bezel and internal clockwork mechanisms. The dials were usually made of painted sheet metal or enamel protected by a glass front cover.

Authentic pieces feature hand-carved wood joinery, hand-painted or printed dial lettering often bearing a makers name and location, and traditional brass movement gearing. Natural aging, oxidisation on metal elements, and wear consistent with age also help verify authenticity.

An antique wall clock can be mounted as a focal point in a narrow hallway, alcove, or above secondary furniture like a side table. Combining warm timber tones with neutral wall paint allows the carved woodwork and dial details to stand out.

Dust the exterior mahogany casing regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly to maintain the finish. Avoid placing the clock near direct heat sources or in damp environments to prevent wood warping and movement corrosion.
