A George II dressing mirror is a tabletop vanity glass dating from the mid-18th century, typically featuring a rectangular vertically-oriented pivoting frame mounted on a box base fitted with small drawers.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods like pine, incorporating hand-blown cylinder glass plates and cast brass hardware such as knobs and finials.

Authenticity is indicated by period construction techniques including hand-cut dovetails on the drawers, original mirrored glass with foxing and imperfections, hand-turned brass fittings, and secondary timber appropriate to the 18th century.

Placed upon a contemporary console table or chest of drawers, this piece provides a functional reflective surface while introducing historical warmth and traditional craft to a modern setting.

Maintain the piece by keeping it away from direct sunlight and humidity fluctuations, dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, and avoiding chemical polishes that can degrade the traditional wax finish.
