Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Cast iron garden furniture gained significant popularity during the Victorian era, when industrial manufacturing advancements allowed for intricate, ornate moulding techniques to be applied to outdoor pieces.

Traditional garden sets are primarily constructed from cast iron, wrought iron, or early variants of cast aluminium, often finished with protective layers of paint to prevent oxidisation.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit heavier weights, hand-finished casting seams, traditional flathead screws or bolted joints, and natural patination beneath multiple layers of historical paint.

Pair the ornate metalwork with minimalist planters or contemporary paving to create a balanced contrast between traditional craftsmanship and modern exterior design.

Maintain cast iron by regularly inspecting for surface rust, wire-brushing affected areas, applying a rust-inhibiting primer, and finishing with durable exterior-grade weatherproof paint.
