A very good quality George IV figured mahogany arched top bracket clock standing on brass bracket feet with boxwood and ebony string inlay to the front of the case, edged in ebony string detail. The case has brass fish scale sound frets to the sides with red silk, a brass bezel and is finished with brass carrying handle to the top. The clock comes with a contemporary, traditionally handmade mahogany wall bracket.
The clock has a white enamel 7 inch dish dial with Roman numerals and moon hands and it has the makers name

The movement is a five pillar, twin fusee, eight day duration with pull repeat action which strikes the hours on a bell. The movement back plate and pendulum have a decorative engraved design.
John Grant has born 1796 and was registered as working at Fleet Street, London from 1817 - 1867 and became a master in 1838, 1839, 1846, 1858 and 1868. He came from a very talented family of clock makers. His father John Grant Senior became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1781. and he also became Junior Warden in 1810 and died in office. He was also registered as working at Fleet Street and in his younger years was apprentice to his uncle Alexander Cumming, who was also a fine clockmaker.

DELIVERY - Delivery is free for mainland UK. Small goods will be delivered within a couple of working days which are provided with a tracking number and are usually next day delivery services. All of our small items (mantel clocks, smaller chandeliers, wall lights, miscellaneous items) are packaged to a high standard. Double boxed, bubble wrapped and bedded in foam. Our preferred courier is Parcelforce, however we may send with a different courier occasionally.
Larger items are delivered by a trustworthy carrier and we aim to deliver within two weeks of purchase but please allow three weeks. We use smaller carrier companies which take a bit longer, but we would rather your item arrives at your door safely. Like our small items, our larger items are packaged well and protected.
