An 18th century longcase clock by Thomas Utting of Yarmouth
The chinoiserie lacquered case decorated with pierced red silk back fretwork to the top of the hood, the hood with gilt ball finials and all standing on bracket feet, the silvered Roman chapter ring containing a second indicator and date aperture, all surrounded by cast chased and engraved spandrels, the movement striking the hours on a bell.
Condition report
Minor marks, dents and scratches overall due to age and use, signs of more recent restoration to the case. The blued hands with some signs of rusting, the movement clean and seemingly in good condition. Some signs of old woodworm to the pilaster columns to the back of the hood (now treated). The clock complete with two weights and a pendulum.
