Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

English country house style emerged from centuries of accumulated possessions, blending formal craftsmanship with comfortable, lived-in practicality. It prioritises durable materials, historical character, and functional elegance over rigid matching suites.

Nineteenth-century frames typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or beech for structural integrity. Traditional upholstery build-ups involved webbing, hand-tied steel coil springs, animal hair stuffing, and hessian scrim layers.

Authentication relies on examining the frame construction, timber ageing, tool marks, and traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon. Maker stamps, hand-forged iron or brass fixings, and period webbing also indicate authenticity.

An exposed frame brings raw texture and industrial character, serving as a sculptural focal point in a contemporary room. It can be displayed as-is for an architectural statement or custom-upholstered in modern fabrics to bridge historical and current design.

Preserve wooden elements by applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the timber and avoid placing pieces in direct sunlight or near heat sources. Protect exposed natural fibers from moisture and excessive handling to prevent degradation.
