Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French industrial design from the early twentieth century prioritised utilitarian function, durability, and structural efficiency. Utilitarian pieces produced for factories, offices, and workshops utilised heavy-gauge steel, exposed metalwork, and brass fittings to withstand daily commercial use.

Industrial filing cabinets were predominantly constructed using sheet steel or iron, joined via welding or riveting. Standard fittings included brass or cast iron index card holders, pull handles, and protective corner brackets to ensure longevity.

Authentic pieces feature heavy-gauge folded metal construction, original folded seams, and genuine age-related surface wear such as minor oxidisation or paint distress. Hardware like brass card holders is typically secured with period-correct slotted screws or rivets rather than modern fasteners.

A tall industrial metal cabinet serves as a functional statement piece in open-plan spaces, home offices, or dining rooms. Pairing dark steel furniture with natural textures like timber floors, exposed brick, or linen upholstery helps soften the utilitarian aesthetic.

Clean painted steel surfaces using a microfibre cloth slightly dampened with lukewarm water and neutral soap, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners. To prevent rust, ensure the metal remains dry, and treat brass fittings with a soft cloth to maintain their natural patina.
