FAQs

Preserve antique oak by keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent timber splitting, applying microcrystalline wax periodically, and dusting with a soft, dry cloth.

They can be integrated into contemporary bedrooms by pairing them with minimalist lighting and neutral linens to highlight the natural warmth and texture of the aged oak timber.

Authentic period pieces display period-appropriate hand-cut dovetail joints, natural timber shrinkage, aged patination on the brass fittings, and hand-carving rather than machine routing or modern metal fixings.

These cabinets are traditionally crafted from solid European oak utilizing joinery methods such as mortise and tenon, often featuring hand-carved floral motifs and brass hardware.

French bedside cabinets evolved during the 18th and 19th centuries as bedrooms became more private and specialized furniture was developed to hold nighttime essentials like chamber pots, books, and lighting.
