FAQs

Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often reinterpreted earlier historical periods such as the Georgian and Sheraton styles, featuring lighter proportions and refined craftsmanship.

Edwardian dining chairs were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods like mahogany, walnut, and satinwood, frequently paired with upholstered drop-in seats covered in tapestry, leather, or woven fabrics.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery, such as hand-cut tenons, subtle timber shrinkage, patination consistent with age, and construction methods characteristic of early 20th-century workshops rather than modern machinery.

Pairing antique wooden chairs with a minimalist modern dining table creates a striking eclectic contrast, balancing historical texture and warmth with contemporary clean lines.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, and periodically nourish the timber with appropriate wax polish while avoiding harsh chemical cleaners.
