ANTIQUE #SA1113785

A Scottish George III Mahogany Elbow Chair, Edinburgh 1780's

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Jeckyll & Co

The tubluar-shaped arms are interesting, being more typical of a armchair from the early decades of the century.

An estate wright named Thomas Welsh made a set of chairs with similar arms for Hopetoun House in 1760''s.

The chair has had a couple of repairs but is now rock-solid and robust. The drop-in seat requires a new top cover.
