We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Early 19th-century farmhouse furniture is characterised by utilitarian construction, local solid timbers such as oak or elm, and simple designs intended for everyday domestic use.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid native hardwoods like oak and elm, often featuring pegged mortise and tenon joints and hand-shaped wooden seats.

Authenticity is assessed by examining tool marks, hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage, patina, and wear consistent with age and manual production methods.

They can be paired with a minimalist or contemporary dining table to create a contrasting rustic focal point, introducing texture and historical depth to the room.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically feeding the timber with traditional beeswax to protect the finish.
