Tunbridge Ware refers to wooden objects decorated with characteristic mosaic woodwork, produced primarily in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, starting in the 18th century and reaching peak popularity during the Victorian era.

Craftsmen used a wide variety of naturally coloured British and exotic timbers, such as holly, beech, yew, walnut, and mahogany, to create intricate mosaic patterns without the use of artificial dyes.

Authentic early pieces often feature hand-turned construction, simple banded wood stringing, or early mosaic block work, coupled with aged patination, traditional tool marks, and period-appropriate joinery.

These small collectables work well displayed on coffee tables, bookshelves, or mantelpieces, adding texture, historical context, and warmth to minimalist or eclectic spaces.

Preserve antique treen by keeping it out of direct sunlight, avoiding excessive moisture, and occasionally applying a microcrystalline wax to protect the dry wooden surface.
