The Italian wall mirror is decorated with an elaborately floral and acanthus leaf hand carved frame, incorporating pierced sections to the border, with a raised concave internal fame, retaining the original gilt finish on a pine frame. The Rococo wall mirror retains the original mirror, hanging rope and backboards.

Wall mirrors of this period and design were usually constructed of pine, before a gesso and gilded finish was applied. The carving to the frame is crisp with a pleasantly balanced gilded finish to produce a lovely patination. This Rococo wall mirror is a good practical size, measuring 3ft x 2ft 8”, allowing it to be used in most in most locations to enhance the room.

Condition Report:
This is a fine quality antique Italian Victorian Rococo wall mirror, incorporating a raised and pierced carved giltwood frame, circa 1900, in good original condition. The frame, the carvings and backboards are all original. Nominal old use marks, to the leading edges of the frame. Importantly, there is no damage or missing pieces to the carvings. The mirror appears to be original and shows minor signs of foxing around the edges. The back of the frame retains its original backboards and hanging cord.
