George III Painted Armchair

Sold by: William Carr Antiques

A wonderful George III painted open armchair, in the manner of John Linnell, C.1775.

With a moulded oval backrest and carved honeysuckle crest to the top rail, out-swept arms with leaf carved shoulders, further leaf carvings to the bottom of the scrolling arm support, raised on turned tapering legs.

Professionally and traditionally upholstered in Robert Kime ‘Larsson Green’ fabric. With historic sympathetic repair to leg, structurally sound.

This chair closely resembles a set supplied by John Linnell to Sir Watkin William-Wynn of 20 St James Square, London in C.1775.
