Pair of C19th George II period revival mahogany armchairs , probably Irish .
Bold pair of carved Cuban mahogany mid C18th style library or desk armchairs of generous proportions , raised on cabriole fore-legs with shell and scroll carved knees and carved ‘claw-and-ball’ feet . The shaped top rails with central shell carved motif above broad , pierced back-splats . The swept arms with scroll terminals and carved C-scroll detail .
Superb quality heavy grade of selected mahogany which has achieved a wonderful rich period-style colour and patina . In excellent condition with no breaks or repairs.
The drop-in seats with old , but serviceable, upholstery , which could be reupholstered at cost price in client’s choice of fabric .
