Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of eight Regency mahogany dining chairs comprises six side chairs and two carvers, all rendered in a warm brown timber with a polished finish. Each chair features a shaped tablet top rail, a central backrail, and a brown leather upholstered seat finished with brass studding along the edges. The carvers include scrolled open arms, and the entire set stands on curved sabre legs. The dining chairs measure 84 cm high, 56 cm wide, and 48 cm deep, with exact dimensions varying slightly between the carvers and side chairs. These chairs suit a formal dining room setting around a large dining table, offering seating for eight people. Their classic Regency style and durable leather upholstery provide both aesthetic appeal and practical seating for daily dining or hosting guests. The rich mahogany tone and traditional lines integrate smoothly into formal or transitional interiors.

FAQs

Regency dining chairs, dating from approximately 1811 to 1830, are characterised by Neoclassical proportions, sabre legs, tablet top rails, and the extensive use of dense mahogany.

Cabinetmakers primarily used West Indian mahogany, frequently accented with flame mahogany or satinwood veneers, alongside hand-upholstered leather or cane seating and brass stud trim.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, natural timber shrinkage on unpolished undersides, hand-tacked upholstery, and original patination across the wooden frame.

Pairing a structured set of Regency chairs with a contemporary minimalist dining table creates an engaging contrast between historical timber grain and clean modern architectural lines.

Keep timber frames nourished with natural beeswax polish applied twice yearly, clean leather with dedicated hide balm, and avoid placement in direct sunlight or next to heat sources.
