This is a fantastic curiosity, an Edwardian Poachers Ferret box or carrier - so when the ferrets weren''t living down someone''s trousers they would be transported around in this domed house.
With doors at each end, the ferrets could be accessed in a ''roll on, roll off'' fashion and put to work.
Made from pine, and still in its original paint, the box stands on four little feet, has six breathing holes, is topped by a leather carrying handle, and is a real glimpse back to a rustic and very different way of life.
The box stands 28cm tall, 35cm long and is 16 cm wide. It is in a good solid condition, but bears the surface wear to be expected of an item of this age and use. There are a few small old worm holes, but like the ferrets, they are long gone.
This would look great in a kitchen or living room as a piece of Folk Art, and will certainly be a great talking point!
